Shervin Assari, MD, MPH, is an assistant research professor of psychiatry. With 170 published papers, he is an elected fellow of Society for Behavioral Medicine (SBM) and New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM). He has chaired committees for American Academy of Health Behavior (AAHB) and American College of Epidemiology (ACE). He is currently the president of Scientific Association for Public Health in Iran (SAPHIR) and Chairman of the board of directors of the Children of Imprisoned Parents International (COIPI). With a major focus on socioeconomic, race, and gender difference in health, he has published cross-country comparisons on the effects of socioeconomic status on health. He has also compared racial and ethnic groups for the effects of social determinants on health.
