Rebecca Evans-Polce is a research investigator with the Institute for Social Research. Her research focuses is gender, racial/ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in substance use, consequences, and its treatment. She is particularly interested in how social and contextual influences may inform these health disparities. Her work utilizes a range of study populations and designs, ranging from a longitudinal cohort study of a disadvantaged African American community to large nationally-representative cross-sectional studies. Evans-Polce’s research employs novel statistical methods to understand the complexity and dynamic nature of social and behavioral influences on substance use including time-varying effect models, latent class analysis, and causal inference.
