Broderick Johnson

Broderick Johnson is senior of counsel at Covington & Burling law firm in Washington, D.C. A U-M Law School graduate, Johnson’s areas of expertise include public policy, government affairs, and higher education. He served as assistant to the president and cabinet secretary under President Barack Obama and was deputy assistant for legislative affairs for President Bill Clinton. Johnson drafted landmark legislation at the House Office of Legislative Council and served as chief Democratic counsel to two standing committees. He currently serves as chairman of the board of My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, is on the board of Wolf Trap Foundation, and teaches as an adjunct professor at U-M’s Law School. He is also a Towsley Policymaker in Residence at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at U-M.
