Support Poverty Solutions

Both the incidence and severity of poverty in America and across the globe are significant, leading to disastrous consequences for individuals and society. Despite major safety net programs—some of them informed by University of Michigan research—there is little doubt that poverty remains one of the largest and most urgent problems facing our nation.

Unlike other university-based programs and centers around the nation, the U-M Poverty Solutions Initiative engages multiple disciplines and extends beyond basic research. We drive change by focusing on collaborative, action-based research partnerships with communities, policymakers, and stakeholders. Michigan students at every level will have opportunities to work and learn with real-world practitioners, testing strategies to change the trajectory of poverty in a meaningful and lasting way.
