Marcus Harris

Lecturer of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, University of Michigan-Dearborn

Marcus Harris is a lecturer of strategy and entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He is a practitioner-scholar whose research interests include social entrepreneurship and social innovation, urban entrepreneurship and microenterprise development, and nonprofit management and leadership. He has taught courses in entrepreneurship, management, and strategy for the past 10 years at institutions including Wayne County Community College District, Oakland University, and Lawrence Technological University. He also serves as an entrepreneur trainer and coach for various community-based neighborhood micro-enterprise development programs in inner-city Detroit. Harris serves as a consultant for the Detroit Community Development Financial Institutions Coalition, a consortium of organizations who provide financial assistance and capacity building to neighborhood improvement initiatives.

Harris has 19 years of professional experience in corporate information technology management, nonprofit management, and small business consulting. He lives in Detroit with his daughter, Violet.
