Paul J. Fleming

Assistant Professor in Health Behavior and Health Education, School of Public Health

Paul Fleming is an Assistant Professor in Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. His mixed-methods research focuses on the social determinants of health and health behaviors, with a particular focus on developing and evaluating interventions in poor and marginalized communities in Michigan and abroad. In the work he is initiating in Michigan, he uses a community-based participatory approach with Latino immigrants to examine how policies and discrimination contribute to poverty and poor health. In his international work, he focuses on how gender norms and poverty interact to result in men’s harmful behaviors, including partner violence and sexual risk behaviors.
