William S. Lovejoy

Raymond T. Perring Family Professor of Business Administration Professor of Technology and Operations, Ross School of Business Professor of Art and Design

Professor William S. Lovejoy is the Raymond T. Perring Family Professor of Business Administration, Professor of Technology and Operations in the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, and holds a joint appointment in the School of Art and Design. His background is in operations and current focus is new product development, entrepreneurship and small economic system development.

Professor Lovejoy has worked in the private and public sectors and has been on the business school faculties at Georgia Tech, Stanford University and now the University of Michigan.  His cross-disciplinary new product development course has enjoyed extensive media coverage, he was the faculty co-director for the University of Michigan’s Master of Entrepreneurship degree from 2012-2015.  His research on innovation through social networks has been implemented in the University of Michigan’s random coffee matching program (Innovate Brew), and he has worked on many new product and small business development projects with non-profits in Detroit.

Professor Lovejoy’s many peer-reviewed articles have appeared in top academic journals, for which he has also served as Associate or Senior Editor.  He has also taught many team-based project courses in area hospitals, and is co-author of a textbook on Hospital Operations.
